High performance technology in spiral form

Diffusion
dialysis

Diffusion Dialysis is a membrane-based process that recovers free acids from spent industrial solutions — without electricity, heat, or added chemicals. The driving force is simply the concentration difference between two liquids: dissolved components naturally move from the concentrated side to the diluted side across a selective membrane. By letting acids pass through while holding back dissolved metals, the process delivers two valuable streams — a clean, reusable acid ready to return to the production bath, and a depleted solution that is safe and inexpensive to discharge.

Spiraltec GmbH is the only company in the world to offer spirally wound membrane modules for Diffusion Dialysis. Our patented spiral design enables true countercurrent flow, longer contact paths, and greater membrane area in a compact, plug-and-play module — delivering higher recovery rates, easy scalability, and continuous operation for five years or more.

Electro-
coagulation

Electrocoagulation is a clean, chemical-free water treatment process that removes suspended solids, heavy metals, oils, and emulsions from industrial wastewater.

A low electrical current passes through specially designed electrodes, releasing coagulating ions that bind pollutants into larger particles — which are then easily separated by electroflotation and settled out as sludge. The result is clarified, reusable water and a compact, stable sludge — with no need for costly chemical additives.

Spiraltec GmbH takes this proven principle further with its patented Spiral Electrocoagulation (S-EC) technology. The spiral electrode configuration, combined with an integrated stirrer, creates optimized flow hydrodynamics, improves mass transfer at the anode, and minimizes deposits and electrode passivation.

This translates into lower voltage requirements, reduced energy consumption, and consistently higher treatment efficiency.

Prefiltration
system

Prefiltration is the essential first step in any advanced water or process treatment system — protecting downstream membranes, electrodes, and equipment from damage and premature wear. Using Microfiltration (MF) and Ultrafiltration (UF) technologies, Spiraltec's systems reliably remove particulate matter, suspended solids, microorganisms, oils and fats, debris, and large organic and inorganic compounds such as sand, silt, and clay.

The result is a cleaner, more stable feed stream — extending equipment life, improving process efficiency, and reducing overall operating costs.

Our specialists design and engineer customized prefiltration solutions for even the most demanding industrial applications, including aggressive acids and bases. Every system is built with robust, corrosion-resistant materials for long-term reliability in harsh chemical environments.

Backed by Spiraltec's state-of-the-art prefiltration pilot test facility, we can validate performance on real client media before scale-up — ensuring each solution is precisely matched to the process. It's this combination of expertise, engineering quality, and hands-on testing capability that makes Spiraltec a trusted leader in advanced filtration.

Spiral Heat
Exchanger

A heat exchanger is a device that transfers thermal energy between two fluids without allowing them to mix — enabling processes to be efficiently heated, cooled, or held at a stable temperature.

The principle is simple: when two fluids at different temperatures are separated by a thermally conductive surface, heat naturally flows from the warmer fluid to the cooler one until balance is reached. By guiding the two fluids in counter-current direction along carefully designed flow channels, the exchange becomes highly efficient, continuous, and precisely controllable — making heat exchangers essential across chemical processing, electroplating, water treatment, and energy recovery.

Building on many years of experience in spiral-wound membrane technology, Spiraltec has developed an innovative non-metal Spiral Heat Exchanger for applications where aggressive chemistry rules out conventional metallic units. Manufactured entirely from polypropylene (PP) — including PP film and precision-engineered PP spacers — it delivers excellent resistance to acids, bases, and saline solutions while remaining lightweight and cost-effective.

Its spiral-wound counter-current design ensures efficient heat transfer, uniform flow distribution, and a large exchange area within a compact footprint. From electroplating baths and chemical process fluids to wastewater and saline water systems, Spiraltec's heat exchanger provides reliable, corrosion-resistant, and energy-efficient thermal management — a smarter alternative wherever metals fall short.

Spiral Membrane
Humidifier

The Spiral Membrane Humidifier (SMH) is a counter-current, membrane-based gas conditioning system that precisely controls the humidity of reactant gases entering a PEM fuel cell stack.

The principle is simple and elegant: dry reactant gas flows along one side of a spiral-wound membrane, while a humidified stream flows counter-currently on the opposite side. The resulting vapour pressure gradient drives the selective diffusion of water vapour — and only water vapour — through the membrane, leaving behind any liquid water, contaminants, or ionic species. The gas exits fully conditioned to the target relative humidity (typically 80–100% RH), ready to support optimal proton conductivity and stable fuel cell operation across the entire load range.

Built on Spiraltec's proven spiral-wound expertise, the SMH combines a high active membrane area with a compact cylindrical footprint, delivering more uniform conditioning than conventional co-current or cross-flow designs. Its fast dynamic response allows humidification to track rapid load changes — essential for automotive and dynamic stationary fuel cell applications where acceleration, deceleration, and standby transitions must be handled seamlessly.
